Tuning Iphone and Iphone 3G

The first generation Iphone and the 3G Iphone have only 128 MB of memory, which makes this phones very slow sometimes. I remember that on my first generation Iphone i could now even answer the call because the phone was very bussy doing some tasks. Here is a trick to free up some memory, and make your Iphone faster, which will also avoid crashes while playing games.

A new Iphone application called SafariQuitter is available for download under cydia. First you must add cydia.iphoneil.net as a source, and then install the App. SafariQuitter is a simple application which will close the safari when you press the home button, because by defoult Safari continues to run as an background proccess on the Iphone even when you close it. This application will close it for real and it can free up to 20 MB of additional memory on the Iphone, which will make your Iphone run faster. First and second generation Iphone usualy have up to 55 MB of free memory, so with safariquitter you can have up to 75 MB which is more then 30% of additional memory for you Iphone.

Once you install it, you have to respring your iPhone (or iPod Touch) and you are good to go. A major change will happen and the chance that other apps (mostly games) crash will be significantly lower. Please note that Safari will continue to run when you press its icon normaly, it wont affect its work, just will make. I did test it on my old Iphone and i could quicky notice the speed up. You can also install it on the 3GS but wont take any big role like in the 1st gen iphone and 3G model.
